Good kit, some small issues

I bought the DIY Japanese Alley Book Nook and it was mostly a good experience. The kit arrived a day earlier than expected, which was nice. All the pieces were there and the instructions were pretty clear for the most part. The wood quality felt solid, not flimsy like some other brands I've tried. Assembly took me about 8 hours over a few days. My only real gripe is that some of the smaller paper cutouts were a bit fiddly to separate cleanly, I ended up tearing one tiny piece. Also, the included glue was okay, but I ended up using my own for better hold. Overall, it looks great on my shelf and was a fun project.

Decent value on sale

I was looking for a new hobby and saw Fifijoy's DIY Forest Cabin Miniature kit. I waited for a holiday sale and managed to get 15% off, which made a big difference for my budget. Shipping was free because the order was over fifty dollars, which is always a plus. The kit itself was detailed and kept me busy for several evenings. For the price I paid, especially with the discount, it felt like a worthwhile investment. It wasn't the absolute cheapest I've seen for similar items, but the quality seemed to justify the cost after the sale price. Pretty happy with it.

Anyone know if Fifijoy does a first order discount? Thinking of getting the Japanese Alley book nook and hoping to save a few bucks.

S Sophie 1 month ago

Yeah, they do! I got 10% off my first order when I signed up for their newsletter.

Check their website, there's usually a pop-up or something. Pretty sure they have one, most places do now.

Hey, wondering how long shipping usually takes for these book nooks? I'm in California and want to get one for a friend's birthday next month.

D Derek Romero 2 months ago

Mine took like 2 weeks to get to me in LA. It was pretty standard.

L Lisa 2 months ago

Yeah, I've ordered a few times to Florida, and it's usually between 10-14 days. If you're cutting it close for a birthday, maybe order soon just in case of any delays.

Are these kits super hard to put together? I'm kind of a beginner when it comes to DIY stuff but really want to try a miniature greenhouse.

P Paula Vargas 2 months ago

Nah, I'd say they're mostly about patience. The instructions are usually pretty clear, just take your time.

S Steve Q. 2 months ago

I started with a simple bakery shop one and it was totally doable for a beginner. The smaller pieces can be a bit fiddly, but you get the hang of it. Definitely recommend precision tweezers if you don't have them.

Trying to decide between a Fifijoy kit and one from Rolife. Are they pretty similar quality-wise, or is one generally better?

B Ben F. 2 months ago

I've built both. Fifijoy feels a tiny bit more detailed in some of the smaller bits, but Rolife is also good. It really depends on the specific kit designs you like more.

N Nick Bennett 2 months ago

For me, Fifijoy's instructions seem a bit clearer. And the wood pieces felt a little sturdier. Both are decent though, you can't really go wrong.

What's the deal with returns? Like if I get a kit and it's missing pieces or something, can I send it back easily?

R Ryan B. 2 months ago

I had a missing piece once and they just sent me the replacement part, didn't have to return the whole kit. Super easy.

M Marcus E. 2 months ago

I think their policy is pretty chill. If it's a defect or missing parts, they'll sort you out. Pretty sure you can return unused kits too, but you might pay for shipping if it's just a change of mind.
